These personalised services include individual and/or group pathways that contribute to skills development and open up a world of opportunities.

SKILLS DEVELOPMENT PATHS

The Centre offers employability pathways and services that take into account the different stages of the personal and professional lives of individuals and their families.

PERSONALISED SERVICES

What is it?

The Centre offers services to help participants find a job or return to school. Whether it is to write a resume, simulate a job interview, participate in thematic workshops or obtain various information, these services are tailored to each participant’s needs. The Centre also provides access to computer equipment (computers, printers, Internet access) to facilitate the job search process.

For whom?

Individuals of all ages

When?

Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to noon and from 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm

ODABI (preparing for employment)

What is it?

ODABI is an job readiness pathway that allows participants to put themselves into action. It is a process of wellness and a pathway to a return to the labour market or to school. It is also an anicinabe experience to explore and enrich personal, professional and cultural knowledge and skills at one’s own pace and according to one’s needs. Activities include:

  • Cultural workshops
  • Group projects
  • Access to a driving course
  • Company visits
  • On-the job observation placements

For whom?

All persons aged 16 and over who wish to:

  • get into action
  • access the labour market or go back to school
  • be part of a group
  • have a personal follow-up with a counsellor

When?

Tuesday to Thursday from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm

Duration

The training lasts for a maximum of 52 weeks per participant.

Financial allocation

Participants receive an allowance based on their personal and family situation.

Support at work

What is it?

This pathway offers support to workers and future workers in their preparation, job search and maintenance in employment. It is an opportunity to become familiar with a work environment while being accompanied by skills enhancement counselors.

For whom?

All individuals who:

  • wish to find a job
  • are willing to be accompanied in their efforts
  • have ideally participated in the ODABI program

LABOUR MARKET INTEGRATION

What is it?

The labour market integration pathway allows participants to gradually integrate a job through an internship in a company and to learn a trade. The internships, which are supervised, are offered by partner companies. This pathway is combined with group workshops offered at the Indigenous Friendship Centre.

For whom?

All individuals who:

  • wish to participate in an internship project that could lead to a career in a company
  • are willing to be accompanied in their efforts
  • have ideally participated in the ODABI program

When?

One registration period per year. Date to be announced.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP SUPPORT

What is it?

The Entrepreneurial Assistance Service offers participants a variety of programs to help them discover the world of entrepreneurship, according to their needs, interests and aspirations. The Exploration section lets participants experience inspiring encounters and immersive workshops to familiarize themselves with entrepreneurship; the Accompaniment section guides them through concrete steps such as drafting documents, legal aspects or marketing; and finally, the External Partnership section lets them refine an entrepreneurial project with an expert by developing a business plan, for example.
